“Mr Holmwood refinished the floors throughout my house. It dates from 1950: the floors are matai, with rimu in the kitchen. Some had been exposed, others hidden under carpet; there were water marks and gouges and some repair was needed. After Mr Holmwood had finished the house was unrecognizable. The floors looked so handsome that I was reluctant to put back the furniture.
Mr Holmwood comes when he says he will, explains clearly what problems he can and cannot fix, works hard, and takes great care. He is also kind. When the joiners who were fitting new kitchen cupboards gouged the floor he had just refinished, he made the gouges disappear without complaint. After I had ignored his advice, asked him to refinish the bedroom floor, changed my mind and had carpet laid, he came back to shorten the wardrobe doors that no longer fitted.
Anyone who does not hire Mr Holmwood makes a serious mistake.“

“We moved into our house in Lansdowne last November. We were very keen to remove the carpet and expose the original Matai tongue and groove flooring in some key areas and bring it back to its best condition. We obtained three quotes from various floor repair specialists. We are especially glad that we chose Peter. A few parts of the flooring had been damaged and needed replacement. He was able to source a near matching floor board, repair the damage and bring it up to its best condition. I’m a reasonable handyman, with some decent tools, but this guy’s workmanship is on a different level. The floor looked great!
Peter started on the day he said he would, had all the necessary equipment to complete the work, used non-toxic materials and followed up after completion to ensure I was happy with the result. I was, very much so. I engaged him again recently to do the same once more in our en-suite. Now it looks great too! After being hidden from view for many years, our floors are now a very visual talking point.
